| Background: |
Each year, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce sponsors a program to recognize the TOP 10 Small Businesses in the metropolitan community. The winners are selected based on the principles of the famous Kansas Citian, Ewing Kaufman. These principles include a focus on strong business principles, strong employee programs and strong community service. Former winners have collaborated with the goal of giving back to their community with a goal of promoting the education of the "FUTURE TOP 10!" |
| Purpose: |
To recognize and provide a financial benefit to area students to help them attain their personal education goals. |
# of Recipients /Amount: |
For the 2010 graduating class, there will be at minimum 10, $1,000 scholarship gifts given. We will also be offering re-application to former winners who are currently in college. |
| Eligibility: |
Applicant must be a graduating senior of an area high school.
Applicant must pursue a higher education degree or specialized trade/vocational training-
Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above.
Applicant must provide a record of their involvement in civic, community or extra-curricular activities.
Applicant must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words that includes why they feel they should receive this award and what their goals are in serving their community in the future. |
| Selection Process: |
A representative from each of the sponsoring companies will convene to review all candidates and will conduct personal interviews will the finalists. The application deadline is April 1, 2010. Interviews will be completed in mid-April and winners announced. |
